Benin increases taxes and regulations around the export of raw cashew.

The Benin government decided last Thursday in the Council of Ministers to introduce an "additional levy" of FCFA 50 FCFA per kilo of raw nuts exported, this tax being added to the tax of CFAF 10 per kilo provided for by the Finance Act Management 2017.

This levy is wound up at the customs cordon before any export, underlines the communiqué of the Council.

In addition, the export of raw cashew nuts by land is prohibited.

The marketing campaign for cashew nuts started on 3 March and will end on 31 October, with the producer price floor being set at CFAF 500 per kilogram.
